Acupuncture is a modality of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that involves the insertion of sterile filiform needles into the body at various points along pathways known as meridians. Acupuncture may also be performed without needles, often called non-invasive or non-insertive acupuncture.

Specific points and meridians treated depends upon your condition, which is diagnosed by your acupuncturist via intake, pulse diagnosis, tongue diagnosis, and palpation.


Moxibustion

Moxibustion involves the burning of the dried, ground herb mugwort on or above the body at select acupuncture points. This warming therapy encourages blood flow, boosts energy, aids with digestion, alleviates pain, and has even been shown to flip a fetus from breech position before birth. Jamie Greenhut is a licensed acupuncturist specializing in trauma-informed, gender-affirming, and non-invasive acupuncture and moxibustion. She earned her Master’s Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland, Oregon where she also interned in Old Town Chinatown and the Pain Management Clinic at Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital. She is an NCBAHM certified Diplomate of Oriental Medicine and member of the Illinois Society of Acupuncturists.

In her free time, Jamie can be found exploring the outdoors with her wife and dog, reading old detective novels, or sipping coffee at a local cafe. She is a member of the Portage Park community and is excited to be a part of the Wildlight Collective.
